Knitting for Olive's Pure Silk is a luxurious yarn crafted entirely from bourette silk, also known as raw silk. This type of silk is produced using short fibers collected from cocoons after the chrysalises have matured into moths and departed, allowing them to complete their life cycle. The resulting yarn has a rustic and slightly uneven texture, offering a less glossy finish compared to other silks. Its excellent heat-regulating properties make it suitable for year-round wear; it can absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture while remaining dry to the touch, making it particularly ideal for summer garments. Additionally, when paired with Soft Silk Mohair, it can create a luxurious sweater. The yarn is also STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certified, ensuring it is free from harmful chemicals. |
